Airport Parking Directory - BOOK HERE
Southampton Airport serves the south of England and is about 90 minutes away from London (60 minutes by train). It is a very modern airport and in particular boasts the shortest plane to train connection of all European airports. But many people still choose to travel there by car. Those who do will find it very near to junction 5 of the M27, only 4 miles from the centre of Southampton. The junction is not far from the M3, which goes into London, towards Oxford and the Midlands. The airport handles over 1 million people a year. The airport was opened in 1994 and flights go to and from over 30 destinations, including other seaports in the UK and European destinations as far south as Malta.
The short stay car park is good for those people who wish to meet someone at the airport or see them off. It is only a few yards walk from the terminal so it is convenient for this purpose. Parking starts at 90p for the first 30 minutes, then £1.60 for up to an hour. It's £2.70 for between 1 and 2 hours. Then the price rises up through £4.20 for between 2 and 4 hours to £11 for between 12 and 24 hours. Then for each subsequent 24 hours or part thereof it's also £11.
Long-term parking is really for those staying longer than a few hours. This is why it is also called holiday parking. The car park is to be found north of the terminal and features three zones. It is not located within walking distance of the terminal so you will have to allow 15 minutes from parking your car to arriving at your check-in as you will need to take the free courtesy shuttle bus from the car park to the terminal. Should you need to get assistance when you are in the car you must tell the bus driver or press the information buttons that you will find either on the bus stops or on the entrance and exit barriers of the car park. The price of the long term car park is £6.20.
There are also dedicated bays for bicycles and motorbikes in the short term car park. Bicycles can park for free whilst motorbikes cost 50% of the normal parking rates. You can also pre-book your parking by going onto the internet at http://secure.baa.com/baabook/baabook.asp? or calling 0870 0001000.
Disabled badge holders can park in blue badge spaces at both the short and long stay car parks. Should you wish to take your disabled badge abroad you should tell the car park attendant. All courtesy buses have access for wheelchairs.
